Girl Up is a club for students who want to know more about how to become change makers for equality! Our hope is to inspire students to become forces for gender equality and social change in our school, our community, and our world! Girl Up was founded by the United Nations Foundation and through education, fundraising, advocacy and service, Girl Up Club members develop the leadership skills necessary to make a positive impact in the lives of girls everywhere. As a club, we will educate ourselves about important issues of gender equality, educate our school community by hosting events and awareness days, and more! We will read and tell stories, watch films, learn about current events, and take action! If you want to find out more about what Girl Up does you can check out their website! As the organization puts it, “We’re a movement to advance girls’ skills, rights, and opportunities to be leaders. When girls rise, we all rise.” Girl Up will meet in person on Tuesday mornings from 8:5 to 9:00am with Ms. Huber in room U128. Students from all grade levels are welcome to join. Girl Up will start on Tuesday, September 28th and run through May. I hope to see you there.
