2024 Bond Program, Investing in Student Success

Thornton Middle School Bond Projects

Over the coming years, students, staff and community members will see a wide range of investments at Thornton Middle School. In all, bond projects will total between $7.3 million and $8.8 million.

Classroom furniture throughout the school will be replaced to help create more modern, welcoming learning environments. Updated furnishings will give teachers greater flexibility to arrange their classrooms in ways that support a variety of instructional approaches and student needs. These improvements are designed to enhance both comfort and functionality, boosting student collaboration, creativity and engagement.

As part of a district-wide effort to expand career and technical education (CTE) opportunities for middle schoolers, the district will convert existing classroom space at Thornton Middle to support new, career-focused programming. These adaptable learning environments will allow students to pursue fields including design, entrepreneurship and business, offering hands-on experiences that connect learning to real-world skills. Introducing CTE at an earlier age gives students the opportunity to explore emerging interests, build confidence and begin charting potential pathways for future academic or career success.

Projected construction budget:

Bond Investment Areas at Thornton Middle School

The 2024 bond is focused on improving and updating facilities across the district. All bond projects will benefit students, staff and the community by investing in our buildings and – by extension – investing in our community. These investments vary from paving and resurfacing projects to major interior and exterior overhauls to update school furnishings and finishes.

All schools are also receiving comprehensive IT upgrades through the 2024 bond. These upgrades will support faster network connections and support advanced classroom tools. IT projects will also boost school safety and security, with improved security cameras, exterior door sensors and updated safety systems.
