Get excited! We are going to explore some amazing properties of how our world works over the course of this year. I am completely in awe of how science helps us explain what we see everyday, so I am excited to be teaching physical science here!
I have a degree in biochemistry and English and worked in business in human resources for ten years before returning to school to get a masters degree in leadership. In my last job, I loved helping people discover their strengths, grow in their self-awareness, and be more effective in their work. In the process, I realized I wanted to help students get to know themselves, discover more about the world, and find their path so that they could be most successful. So, I changed fields to teach! I've been teaching physics and Earth science at a high school in Thornton for the last few years and am eager to work at Thornton Middle!
Outside the classroom, I love to travel and enjoyed living in Asia for 4 years before I missed easy access to rivers and forrests. Colorado has been a great fit as I'm passionate about hiking, canoeing, camping, skiing, and exploring the outdoors. I spend many free weekends up in the mountains with friends discovering the wilderness. Whether its over a campfire or in my kitchen, I also love to cook and make new things, especially experimenting with making food from different countries. To relax, I love to read, watch a good movie, make something creative, or garden. One thing I'm learning right now is how to salsa dance! I can't wait to learn all about you. Please stop in and share so I can get to know you better!
