Hi! My name is Suzi Murphy! I am one of the Assistant Principals at Thornton Middle School. I most recently come from STEM Launch K8 as an Assistant Principal. I served the STEM Launch community as a middle school ESL and Language Arts teacher, as a sheltered instructional coach and as an administrator. Previous to serving as an administrator for STEM Launch, I was an Assistant Principal at Hinkley High School for Aurora Public Schools. I served my first years in education for Sheridan School District #2 as an English Language Acquisition middle school teacher for 6th-8th grades. I hold a BA in English with minors in Secondary Education, and English as a Second Language from Regis University. Additionally, I hold a MA in Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Education from Regis University. Post graduate, I earned my principal licensure and certificate in Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Denver as an Adams 12 Ritchie. Currently, I am pursuing continued education at Cornell University in the Psychology of Leadership certificate program. I am a life long learner who is always striving to grow and become more effective for any community I serve.
My passion is for serving schools of diverse cultures and empowering student voices to become change agents in their communities. I love working alongside families, staff and community members to improve the educational experience of students so that they are not only ready to face the world, but to actively engage with it.
I am so thrilled and honored to be a part of Thornton's community! Please call, email or visit with me any time so we can continually develop the possibilities for our Thornton Middle Schoolers!
